Designed with good intention for public spaces like libraries in mind
Collaborating with KeeBee Play, I developed teaching-based game concepts and designs for an interactive and educational play tree intended to introduce non-Indigenous children to Anishinaabe teachings and knowledge. Named "Odaminmaatig", which means "to play under a tree" in Anishinaabemowin, the tree follows the Medicine Wheel Teachings. On each side of the tree you will find the cardinal direction, the colour, the season and the time of day represented on the Medicine Wheel. Each side is also accompanied by an interactive game that has relation to the teachings or the season on it's side.
QR codes on each side of the upper tree trunk provide links to reading materials on the teachings for parents and children to read and learn about together.
