This is a digital collage made up of found objects, set to the backdrop of articles from the Toronto Star Archives from 1909-1980. Each highlights the stereotypes and negative imagery of Indigenous peoples which was widely depicted. This imagining of the “Indian” was a powerful tool used in the disenfranchisement and dehumanization of Indigenous peoples across North America.
